Guess who just got a new iPhone?

Getting it set up has sucked up all evening (including nearly burning dinner ... which was difficult given that I was cooking it in a steamer). After fiddling around trying to figure out how to export data from some of my Palm programs, I got out the metaphoric sledgehammer and just copied the stuff by hand. Fortunately this didn't involve massive quantities of stuff -- the address book and calendar transferred over nicely. And after some mulling it over, I decided I didn't really need to transfer my existing phone call log. The successful calls are all recorded on my billing statement, and I can't really imagine any reason why I'd need to know about the unsuccessful ones. There are a few apps that I'll need to track down and order fairly promptly (like a new auto log program). I decided to spring for the "Mobile Me" service to keep all the devices and e-mail synchronized but I haven't installed it yet (since I really do need to get to bed before midnight).

Now I'm all set to go accessory-shopping at MacWorld on Thursday.

Welcome to the Collective :-)

I'm very happy with mine, so far (although I went from No Cellphone to iPhone, so I don't have much basis for comparison--other than borrowing friends' cellphones and thinking, "Jeez, I hate these things..."). My only real complaint is that I wish the keyboard were less unwieldy (I keep typing the wrong letters in my crosswords :-D), but that appears to be endemic of cellphones in general (or maybe not; see above).

I have my ticket, but

I am afraid to go to MacWorld for fear that I'll buy something expensive that I don't really need. I really do want one of those darned things, but I haven't excused myself to get one. Maybe after the contract runs out on what I have....

You could always hand your wallet over to a buddy to hold so you have to argue really really hard to get access to it. :)
Actually, are you interested (and available) to go tomorrow? [livejournal.com profile] scotica cancelled out on me with a cold and I'll be wandering the place all on my own.

Is this still kahnegabs? I'm not sure whether that's a yes or no for tomorrow. But, hey, I'll have my new iPhone and I can check comments and e-mail any time, so maybe arrangements can still be made! I am starting to get seriously seduced by this device.

Ain't it cool? :)

Watch out though, the little devil's addictive...

I love my Touch. (I hardly ever leave home, so I only use the wifi on my home network, but! It's! Just! Cool!)
