Intern-al Matters
Apr. 12th, 2006 07:50 pmWe're currently interviewing potential summer interns at work. They have, like, six 4"-thick binders full of resumes. My department picked five to interview (a lot of departments are choosing interns) and they're all scary-intimidating: 3.9 GPAs from places like Stanford and Berkeley and on their Spring breaks they go off to improve industrial safety in Central America or found health clinics in India then come home again to head committees and do double-majors in biochemistry and Sumerian. (Ok, I'm kidding about Sumerian.) And to think that on my summer breaks from college I wasted my time earning money cleaning dormitories.
Garden notes: Cleared out the grass and blackberries from half of the squeeze space between the house and the neighbor's fence. About 1.5 feet wide. This is why it doesn't get weeded out much. I have to think of something to plant there that will be manageable and stay small.
