Being the relentless scientific analyst that I am, I ran the "who do I write like" app on 10 passages, all from my "personal history and philosophy" tagged posts, on the assumption that they best reflect my style for extended composition. For the 10 passages, I got 7 different authors with only one repeater: 4 of the 10 passages were judged to be similar to the writing of H.P. Lovecraft. I shall ruminate on this for the full length of time it deserves. (The other 6 authors were Poe, Vonnegut, Tolstoy, Joyce, King, and Puzo.)

I find that if I'm reading Lovecraft, I write like that, if I listen to Pink Floyd, I'll write like that, and if I want my words to sound like Charlton Heston, I read the King James Bible first!

I'm amused to see how many of us get Sci Fi authors, and I'm wondering how much of that is because that's all the program includes, or if we just are all sci fi fans.

Your idea of trying several different passages is interesting. I stopped at one and got Stephen King. Maybe I will go back and play some more.

So I did it 5 times. Got 3 Stephen Kings, a Margaret Atwood and a Kurt Vonnegut. It does look like they like sci-fi.

It's a web page at http://iwl.me/ (http://iwl.me/). I just didn't bother with the canned cut-and-paste html the site provides you.
