So I found the replacement thermocouple for the heater pilot. At the fourth place I tried. It wasn't quite the right model but looked like it would work. And sure enough, after installing it, the pilot light now stays lit. But the burner won't light -- even if I crank the thermostat up to 90F. Since the thermostat is new as of a couple years ago it shouldn't be the problem. But if I have to call in a repair person, that means it isn't happening until after I get back from Darkovercon.

Got all caught up with my accounts and filing. I'm sure that on a per-item basis, it's much more efficient to enter an entire month's worth of receipts in one session, but it's deadly tedious. In theory, I'm supposed to sit down once or twice a week and get caught up on everything. In reality, the flow of the workspace gets in the way. To work with all the necessary peripherals, I have to move the printer/scanner on its little roll-away cart out from in front of the computer stand. And while it's rolled out, it's in the way of getting to the stairs. I've been just on the verge of doing some more furniture re-arranging but now that energy will go in a different direction.

I'd be happier if I'd done my trip packing tonight, but that didn't happen. Well, plenty of time tomorrow evening. Please please please, no insomnia tonight. Ok?

In that case I must be scarily efficient. The last time I sat down to enter receipts (about a month ago), I was fishing things from December 2009 out of the bag.

Hmm it sounds to me like when you get to the house-hunting phase one of the things to keep in mind is a computer station area that has a layout which makes it possible to always have the printer scanner set up, ready to go, and in easy reach without blocking anything.

My thermostat quit working this week. I discovered to my shock, that it need batteries inside it. New ones: and now it works!
