So Saturday when I was headed to Fry's in Concord for a little holiday shopping I decided to take a brief driving tour of some of the neighborhoods where I've been window-shopping house listings. Just trying to get a "read" on various areas. Happened to see an open house sign in one of them and figured what the heck and stopped to poke around. There wasn't anyone else there at the time and I was up-front with the broker that I wasn't seriously shopping yet so we had a nice chat about markets and values and what one can expect to get for the sort of money I'm interested in spending. (I take some parts with a grain of salt, but I was looking for general impressions, not specifics.)

Ah, Concord. My husband and I met there, both of us stationed at the Navy base - we had our first apartment out in town, in one of those U-shaped complexes with a swimming pool in the middle. We spent a lot of time with our neighbors, around that pool.

I kinda miss that sort of neighborliness.
