So evidently now LJ thinks it's important to notify me when someone (oh, say, me for instance) logs into my LJ account from some location other than my home (oh, say, from my workplace, for instance). And based on the last two days' evidence, they think it's important to notify me every single time it happens. The lovely little notification e-mail fails to indicate any way in which I can say, "Yes, I know, this is me and it's ok."

Has anyone figured out what to do about this other than filtering the messages to trash?

I never get that, and I log into LJ from home, work, my phone, ....

Go to your account page and click on the "Notifications" tab. Adjust whatever settings you find according to your desires. While you're there, check out the other settings tabs.

I don't see any options about that sort of thing, but I haven't seen any notifications, either. I also have a legacy free account without ads, so the options may be different.

I've gotten a bunch of those messages in the past week or two, despite only logging in from the same four computers and two phones as always. Which I think is because they're keying on IP address. Most people get their IP addresses through DHCP, so the same computer may have a different IP address on Tuesday than on Monday. An obvious problem that they should have foreseen.

As datapoint: I'm not getting them, but then I'm currently using existing cookies, not logging in anew.

My facebook account is full of computers named 'me again' and 'eff off already'.

Ah, that may give a clue. I specifically have my home computer set up not to remember the log-on. (It's a minor security thing.) And I have my work computer set up to forget all browser history and cookies every time I shut down. (Paranoid about leaving a footprint on my work computer? Yeah.)

I think it must be cookie-based: I just got such an email despite logging in on the same effing computer and same effing IP address I use every effing time; only possible reason is that I'd quit Firefox in the meantime upon which it deletes history and cookies etc.

*So* badly thought out. If they don't rapidly fix that, it could provide the final push to me quitting LJ altogether and setting up RSS feeds for the few people I can't follow elsewise.
