The flooring store says they'll be here 8-ish on Thursday. Since the work will take a minimum of two days (due to the tile work) this is cutting things pretty close on their "by the end of the month" assurance. I'm now convinced that they will discover by Friday afternoon that they can't actually get it done that day, thereby leaving me with a houseguest who can neither sleep in the spare bedroom nor on the living room couch. Grrr. Well, we'll see. Maybe they'll be as efficient as the roofers were. It seems unlikely that I'll have the flue swept ahead of time, though, since they chimney sweep hasn't called me back yet. So tonight I'm taking a break from the room-clearing and will be working on the "patterned gathering" technique I'm scheduled to teach in a week and a half. (If it weren't for deadlines, I might not get things done at all.)
