And there was cake.
IMG_1664
My official book release party at the Other Change of Hobbit on Sunday pretty much hit my "wildest dreams" logistics. At least a couple dozen people showed up (including a few I'd never met before! and not including the ones who mistakenly showed up at 1pm). I think somewhere close to 20 copies of Daughter of Mystery were sold and I signed most of them. I did a reading and answered a bunch of questions and then we had the above cake (which was my idea because … hey, you only celebrate your debut novel once).

If you missed it, my next several promotional appearances will be:

  • March 7-9 - Fog Con (Walnut Creek, CA)

  • March 26 (evening) - Reading at the Sunnyvale Public LIbrary (Sunnyvale, CA)

  • April 12 - Reading at Laurel Bookstore (Oakland, CA), probably a group reading but I don't know the other participant(s) yet

You'll not only get to see me at FogCon, you'll get to meet my girlfriend Lauri as well since she's coming out to join me for it.

The cake is awesome!

My copy arrived last week just before we left for Bolton Castle, and I've been devouring it since. It's fun to read it as a proper book, rather than just a word doc.

The couple times I've met Tim Powers he and Serena have been genuinely nice people. He didn't even flinch at signing my ginormous stack of books.

I got the ebook last week and didn't even wait to download it to the ipad, but read it right on the phone. I love it! I'm already looking forward to more.

I'm doing my best to pace myself reading the book, just a couple of chapters a night. We'll see how long my willpower holds out... I'm loving it! (Also, the cake was delicious.)

Sounds like you had a great time. I hope the book does well. I haven't bought a copy yet, but it's on my list. I just need to read a couple more of the ones I bought over Christmas, then I need more reading matter! :)

What time will you be reading at the Sunnyvale Library?

Starts at 7pm. I presume the entire thing will be an hour or less. I have no idea what to expect, but at least it looks like I'll have a few ringers show up!

We're not far from the library. It's got a nice room for readings, too.
