Not a novel -- I'd have to hunt down the word count to know if it's a short story or novelette. Available in e-format from Amazon.
"The Ghost Dragon's Daughter" is pure delight! This is the story of three young women in a sort of cyber-sorcery, slightly dystopic, alternate China-analogue. On the cusp of adulthood, they struggle to sort out their aspirations, family expectations, and interpersonal relationships under the academic deadline of a deliciously geeky group project. Oh, and dragons. Ghost dragons. And queer sexuality of several varieties.
The story is set in the same world as the author's novel Fox and Phoenix but stands solidly on its own (given that I haven't read the novel) with its densely efficient world-building. Both the age of the protagonists and the nature of the story's themes make "The Ghost Dragon's Daughter" YA-friendly without the slightest sense of being a "kids' story".
Highly recommended!
