Short Version: Piece of crap.

Two weeks ago I picked up a TomTom Navigator 5 gps system (software and Bluetooth gps unit) designed to work with a pda as the interface. Several on-line reviews had indicated that it was the best unit available to integrate with a Treo. I shudder to think what the other available products might be like. To be fair, I have no idea how well the wireless gps unit works -- I never got as far as successfully installing the software. Nothing in the instructions even admitted of the possibility of problems, much less how to troubleshoot them. I tried a few work-arounds myself, then sent off a detailed problem description to the company's customer *ahem* support web site. Their customer support has failed to rise to the level of laughable, being completely unresponsive. Today I started searching on-line for user boards that might give me a few hints. What I found was a deep well of horror stories about multi-layered installation hassles, useless costumer support, terrifying installation times, and still no troubleshooting that even slightly resembled the problems I was encountering. To save my sanity, I gave up. Fortunately, Fry's has a very hassle-free refund policy.

My recommendation: avoid any products from TomTom. This company deserves to fail.

Already have -- the refund is from the store, not from the software company.
