Alpennia Writing Retreat: Day 5

I may be getting the hang of this writing thing. Finished today's chapter earlier than the last two days, and without any special anti-distraction measures! I have attempted to describe the experience of listening to an opera with magical overtones from the composer's point of view. We'll see how well that works. This chapter also had the big "no, really this is not a romance novel" scene. That's not a spoiler because I've been very clear from the beginning that however much Daughter of Mystery and The Mystic Marriage weren't really "romance novels"? Mother of Souls is so much more not a "romance novel". And I'm still going to get reviews that say "WTF, where's my romance HEA?"

Tomorrow's chapter will be back to swashbuckling adventure and family drama. And now I give myself permission to not work on the novel for the rest of the evening. Whatever will I do?

Sun. Dec 20: Chapter 25 (Jeanne) 827 words, needs more outline
Mon. Dec 21: Chapter 26 (Serafina) needs more outlining, particularly adding in political stuff
Tue. Dec 22: Chapter 27 (Margerit) has outline but needs to be updated for other changes
Wed. Dec 23: Chapter 28 (Luzie) solidly outlined
Thu. Dec 24: Chapter 29 (Barbara) outline is full but a bit of a mess, needs updating
Fri. Dec 25: Chapter 30 (Serafina) solidly outlined but needs updating
Sat. Dec 26: Chapter 31 (Margerit) solidly outlined but needs updating
Sun. Dec 27: Chapter 32 (Luzie) solidly outlined but needs updating -- and done!
