hrjIt's funny how you click over into vacation mindset even though it's really just a Saturday after a work day and shouldn't be that different. Maybe the key difference is having a brother lounging on the couch watching football bowl games. I finally set up my tree today, starting with taking a saw out to my woodlot. (link to image-heavy external page) I'm still working on putting together a photo essay of the evolution of my living room.
Otherwise, I've been dithering around doing last-minute chores, moving unsorted Boxes-O-Stuff more out of the way, wrapping presents, hanging pictures, and generally futzing around. The youngest brother has arrived. The Maine contingent has been confirmed to have left Chicago at no more than a reasonable delay over original schedule (and have no further stops before arriving in Oakland). cryptocosm called to say he's waiting on AAA (at home, not on a roadside somewhere, if I understood correctly) and is hoping it's just a dead battery.
I seem to have managed to miss the third quake of the set (so far) this morning, although it may have been the time I noticed the counter shaking at Starbucks and wondered why the guy two seats down was bumping it so hard. I figure it's a tossup between "these are the pre-shocks leading up to the big Hayward quake", "these are taking some of the stress off the Hayward fault", and " these are completely irrelevant any big quake action on the Hayward fault". (I think the experts will tell you that we simply don't know enough to be able to guess. Big quakes often have preliminary activity, but you can only identify it as such in retrospect.)
