An IKEA-licious Day

The living room now has a new Wall-O-Bookshelves thanks to IKEA. Only half of them are ready for loading at the moment. Two will eventually be elevated by a yet-to-be-built raised platform to enable access to the crawl space trapdoor they'd otherwise be standing on top of. (I'm still in the process of designing a raised platform that will stand up to the expected weight loading.) Another shelf will be positioned in front of the phone jack, which therefore needs to be moved slightly (complex details omitted). And since I'll be having someone in to move it, I'm going to see if they can re-run the wires in from outside the house. The current ones look a bit battered and if I'm going to make it less accessible, it would be good to have it in top-notch condition. I've started moving books downstairs into the three shelves that are permanently positioned. The theory is to have all costume/textile/sewing related material on that level (where it'll be being used). This will undoubtedly start slopping over into "all the history books", so I'll need to find a balance between keeping books on similar topics together and keeping books with similar usage patterns together. In theory, I'm also going to take the opportunity to do a shelf-check against my books database and to review items for deaccession. But with that bunch of books moved downstairs, and the non-built-in shelves removed from upstairs, all the major rearragements will have taken place and it'll be down to details and relatively small projects. Yay.
