I had thoughts of going out bicycling today. Or maybe a movie. But in the end I went for a big push to finish up the re-org & shelf check of books in the dining room (formerly the office). I haven't finished inputting the books that weren't cataloged yet, and I haven't finished logging deaccession status for today's work, but the main dining room shelves are completed. This means the only non-fiction I still have to do through is the food/cookery books (which will be getting a new shelf, but for now are going on the old brackets by the kitchen) and the music books (which mostly have never been cataloged in the first place). At this point I have seven shelves that are standing completely empty -- that's an entire case's worth. And that's not counting assorted partials scattered around. When I started the book re-org I thought it was going to be psychologically hard to do any serious divestiture, but I've ended up getting into the spirit of the thing. Mind you, I think I've only put 10% of the original total onto the deaccessioning shelves.
And I can now get at my art micro-studio again.
