The library review project is spiraling down to a close. I've finished the food/cooking books. There are still a bunch of items to get into the database, and I have the whole music bookcase to do (which will happen later) but the only significant remaining task is to find good homes from everything I'm getting rid of. The dining room is now almost set in order. I have one more of the freestanding book cases to move out (which is currently housing some of the deaccessioned items) and I need to find places around the house to scatter the dining room chairs when I have the table leaves folded down. And, of course, I need to tackle the filing cabinets (with their cluttered tops) and the magazine boxes of old newsletters and whatnot that I'm getting rid of. But the part of the process that have kept things in disorder and chaos is winding down. Now to keep the momentum going on new areas of focus. (The computer desk is a good next step, as is the 2nd bedroom closet.)

We had an odd little rainstorm yesterday -- mostly light showers, and then just about when you'd gotten used to it, the afternoon turned sunny. By luck, I'd already planned not to bicycle because I was taking the co-workers out to lunch to celebrate my tax refund. (I dragged [livejournal.com profile] thread_walker along too -- it's always amusing to watch my various worlds collide. The co-workers proclaimed her "fun".) In the evening I went off to Province of the Mists A&S night to teach hands-on bits from the "Birka Viking wire-work" class I did at last collegium. A rather small group, but probably about the right size for a hands-on class. The main problem with the topic is that I've tossed together several topics that are thematically related (done with wire and applied to cloth) but involve significantly different manipulation techniques, so even at a beginning level it's a lot of new stuff to toss and someone at once. It will all go up on the web site eventually, but I want to include a lot of step-by-step images.

This weekend I'm continuing in my goal to Have People Over For Dinner more often. I think my eventual target is to do it not less than once a month. It's so easy for me to be hermit-like just because I don't intersect much with the universe where people spontaneously go off and do things together. Heck, I don't intersect much with the universe where people plan do go off and do things together. It's like a language I never learned to speak fluently. (Actually, it's more like a language that everyone else seems to speak telepathically and I only know it exists because I see the effects.) My attempts to change the pattern usually end up feeling artificial and awkward, but it's all I've got so I'll keep plugging away.
