Yet another boring house-project post
Mar. 23rd, 2007 12:37 pmThe last major house to-do list (updated back in December) is winding down to a close. Not all the items are done, but enough are that it’s worth re-prioritizing from scratch. So here’s the new list to be posted on the refrigerator door for inspiration.
(For reference: “6S” (known in some circles as “5S”) is an industry program for organizing and streamlining production areas. The “S”s are things like Sift, Sweep, Sort, Standardize, Sustain – although no two lists seem to be identical. As used here, it’s shorthand for “remove everything from the area, determine what needs to be thrown out and what should be kept, determine the optimal location for items being kept, determine the optimal storage organization for those items, and incorporate them into an overall program for maintaining that organization.” In an industrial setting, it typically includes marking out and labeling “home” storage locations for objects, but I tend to ignore that part at home.)
