I've been working my way through more magazine/newsletter archives and I have a stupid question for my SCA readers. What are the most recent issue numbers for Tournaments Illuminated and Compleat Anachronist? The most recent TI I've received is #157 and the most recent CA is #131. It's hopeless to try to figure out if/how much I'm behind based on the alleged cover dates. I've been receiving my kingdom newsletters every month like clockwork, so I know it isn't a membership problem. Grrrrr.

I don't know the number, but you might be able to find out on the online store. We just got the Templar issue of CA.

I wasn't sure how precise the web site listings were. I knew I didn't have the Templar issue, but in general I don't seem to have been missing the CAs. (Well, any more than everyone does.) And the issue-by-issue index for TI isn't up to date, so it was hard to double-check my memory. So if you only just recevied the latest CA then I won't count it as not received (yet), in which case my only problem is with TI.

We got another TI about 2 weeks ago; I filed it immediately because I won't have time to read it for a while. But, yes, I think the CAs are just starting to arrive.

And I have to renew, which I can't do until Friday, at least.

And -- as if summoned by its name -- the current CA was sitting in my mailbox this afternoon. So it's definitely only a TI problem.

I don't know about TI, but for a while recently, the CA's were at least a year or more behind schedule. I know because I suddnely got one in the mail after not having been subscribed for quite some time.

PITA

Editing CA (and managing the editor of CA) is very, very difficult. Getting authors lined up, getting articles from authors, getting Mss's reviewed and into the appropriate format -- I don't know how weekly magazines or even monthly magazines do it. I've sworn never to try and edit a volunteer publication again after my 5 years of varied experience at it in the SCA.

Latest TI is #161 Winter, 2007 AS XLI
The newest CA, the Templar issue, appears to be "tidied."
