Nomination: Most Absurd Seasonal Lawn Decoration

This is the time when I wish I had a digital camera so I could make my nomination in proper form. But visualize if you will:

The scene is Maine. Snowy Maine. Glistening white diamonds cover the yards in a blanket. A light dusting of flakes is drifting down out of the sky. And there on the lawn is a six-foot-high inflatable plastic snow globe, containing a four-foot-high inflatable plastic snowman, with a fan-blower constantly recirculating a swirl of styrofoam "snow".

In Maine. In winter. Sitting on top of a snowbank. With snow coming down.

I saw those things in Sears when I bought the small amount of lights we put up, and was apalled. There's a lot of stupid stuff out there, and people are buying it.

However, that said, that situation is really absurd, as you note. Much more so than someone putting it up here, which would just look silly. There, well, you summed it up well.

Yeah, if it were in Los Angeles, it would have made a certain amount of sense. Here, it's just ... redundant.

Even in LA or here in the East SF Bay it would look cheesy (at least to me). But you're right about the redundancy. Strange ... but as has been said before by smarter people than me -- if you make it, someone will buy it.
