It always feels a bit odd to post to my journal with the little bits and pieces of my everyday life when the world is making a fuss around me over Major Events. But this isn't a news-blog. It isn't Major Events Commentary. It's a chatty little newsletter for my family and friends about the little bits and pieces in my everyday life. Fergoodnessakes what in the world would be the point in pretending otherwise? That said, it's been a not much happening week. I feel like I've been focussed entirely on getting to sleep at a reasonable hour (which has been successful). Finished filing away the stack-o-paper from the computer desk clean-up. (Rule #285: Stacks-o-paper may not simply be moved from place to place, they must be dealt with when small and helpless rather than being allowed to grow to maturity.) We've had a cold north wind blowing through for most of the week, but I won't have the gall to complain about it when other people are putting up with blizzards. No, wait, that goes against my above-stated principle. We've had this annoying cold north wind blowing through all week and I want my Spring. I want it now! I don't want to have to pry my frozen fingers off the handlebars when I get to work in the morning. (And now for the chorus of itsy bitsy violins from the other corners of the country.)

The snow is still melting. Today in Maine we actually had a temperature of 55 degrees and I raked up dead leaves and little sticks WITHOUT WEARING A SWEATER OR JACKET. WOW1111 Your father even discovered rhubarb poking up and a crocus in bloom. Mom

I posted my comment, but it doesn't seem to show up, so I'll try again. Today in Maine the temperature went up to 55 degrees and I went out to rake WITHOUT A SWEATER OR JACKET !!!! WOW. Your father even uncovered some rhubarb poking up through the earth and we found a crocus in bloom. Maybe we won't get any more snow. Mom

I'm trying to implement rule #285 in my study. But the pesky piles just seem to sprout from the tiny seed of one carelessly discarded piece of paper.

Can I join in the chorus of whining about this cold-north-wind business? Allow me to point out that this is California, where we pay exorbitant amounts for real estate, not to mention taxes, and therefore have a right to expect better weather. It's OK to have rain in April, and I will admit this April is a vast improvement over last year's version, which was completely unacceptable. But it has been in the 30s every damn morning for several days now, and that's just not right.
