Unnecessary excitement

I took off from work at 4:30 to go pick up my car (all tuned up and cooling system fixed), which meant I was just in time to see the start of the warehouse fire off Ashby behind the Orchard Supply a few blocks from work. Since the smoke was blowing towards downtown Oakland, I was biking through the miasma pretty much all the way to the Ford dealership. Quite an impressive column of smoke. On the positive side, the warehouse has been unused for years, so nobody's business has been put out of commission. (It's actually the site where they're planning to build a second Berkeley Bowl Market -- an event I eagerly anticipate.)
