I'm getting tired of catching up with my friends at events and all I have to say for myself is, "Uh ... my house is getting painted. Yeah. And I'm almost done cleaning out the closets!" Boring. Boring. Boring. But, in any event, the hosue painting is almost done. They have to go back and finish the parts that the carpenter only got to yesterday, but that's pretty much it. And I finished cleaning out and organizing the guest bedroom closet today. Made progress on organizing the sewing stash. Took a box of books off to the heraldry meeting for disposal, and then [livejournal.com profile] cryptocosm dropped by after the meeting to go through other remnants. The books-to-go are down to a single case. This week I think I'll freecycle the emptied bookcases and a large assortment of shelf bracket hardware.

Yesterday's Mists Bardic competition was quite delightful. Excellent performances, great food, good schmoozing (well, except for my end being boring). For me, the most memorable performance -- although perhaps the one farthest from the prototype of bardic performance -- was Vittoria's Latin grammar lesson. (It was Vergil. It was salacious. It was linguistic. I was nearly rolling in the aisles.)

Trust me, your house painting is not boring. I had a great time.

I loved Vittoria's grammar lesson too. I thought it was a bold choice for her master work.

I agree that Vittoria's choice was bold. It was wonderfully funny, even though it has been a very long time since I was in high school Latin class.

I went up to her afterward and told her how much I enjoyed her performance.

I found conversation with you to be interesting, although I guess, thinking back on it, a lot of it was about my job, but still ...

Vittoria's lecture was funny. While I'm sure you got more out of it than most of us (it being right up your alley), she did a good presentation. The one thing I'd suggest if she did it again would be to find a way to shorten it a bit, but otherwise, it was quite good.

Speaking of your house painting, what color did you end up deciding to go with? I think I missed that part.

I'll post a photo once they have everything cleaned up a bit more. I went with the medium gray with a slight greenish cast for the siding, and a strong burgundy for the trim.

You're never boring. Besides, "interesting" can be a bad thing sometimes, too.

Boring? Could I borrow a cup of your brand of boring? You write about painting your house, and I dream of having a house of my own to paint - possibly in very obnoxious colors due to having dealt with renting places all painted in the cheapest industrial blah to be found. You debate which fruit trees to plant, and I make mental notes on what foodstuffs I'll grow when I have a piece of dirt to grow them on. I learned about onegreenworld.com here and was interested enough to visit the site. I even found a couple of cold-hardy pears and apples that should survive Wyoming winters, and that my in-laws are willing to let me plant on their place next spring.

I might, occasionally, be a tad envious when I stop by your latest house update, but I've yet to be bored.
