Ahead of the game
May. 22nd, 2006 11:45 pmThe class materials for next Saturday's "harping for period dancing" class are all ready to go. Not bad for one evening's work, considering I had to input all the arrangements into the computer. It was the first time I'd seriously used the scan-recognition function of Smart Score. It certainly saves on hand-entering everything, although it still has a lot of catching up to do in comparison with OCR. I feel like a bit of a fraud with this class, since I'm not at all up to date on current scholarship regarding early harp techniquest and arrangements. This is a much more pragmatic approach, tackling both the specific needs of dance music and the hazards of playing harp in a pick-up ensemble situation. (I'm covering both solo and ensemble situations.)
