I debuted the peacock-blue fitted Gothic underdress this weekend. (Props to thread_walker who did the original draping.) It seems to have worked well, based on all the commentary I got. (Including the now-standard "people who have never had two words to say to me previously who are suddenly deeply opinionated about my physical appearance". Is it really so wrong for me to consider this a little creepy?) If life runs true to form, there will be no photos of the dress available to point at, but I'll be wearing it again for Collegium at the end of the month.

It isn't so much the specific content as the fact that these are people who I've been around, in some cases, for over a decade, and who apparently have never previously found anything to speak to me about. And it isn't as if I spend my life being nothing but a visual presence to those around me. I don't have a problem with people who have always been interested in my activities and ideas and accomplishments also being interested in what I've been doing with my body. I have a problem with people who seem to think the only interesting thing about me is my body.

I know (hope!) this isn't directed at me specifically, but having recently been one who commented for the first time ever about your apperance... well, honestly it's because I didn't feel comfortable enough 'til now. I see you around more in social situations and in smaller groups, and felt more comfortable to voice the thought that traipsed across my brain. That's all. :)
