I am mourning the thought of leaving this house
Like the anticipation of a death in the family,
And yet --
The things I have done to make it my own,
I could do again.
The things I have surrounded myself with to line my nest
Would come with me.
And wherever I go,
I will plant plums and roses.
There must always be plums and roses.

Karen said it all!
I hold good thoughts for you.
Do you already have a place in mind?

The first step is to do the thought experiment of what parameters I'd be looking for. Based on crime stats, access to BART, and affordable housing, plus (ideally) reasonable proximity to people I know to socialize with, I'm currently thinking in terms of Concord. While I love the idea of VIctorian or Craftsman architecture, it tends to be either expensive or in higher crime areas.
