Haven't posted much this week and I don't have time at the moment for much (since I've really truly promised myself to be in bed by 11). Coronet was fun and laid back. I manged to catch up on lots of sleep (and successfully fought off a headache that's been plaguing me since Friday -- allergies, I think) which isn't always easy to do at an event. The Birka-inspired hem band got finished and added to HH's Viking overdress in time to be entered into the competition (and then to get worn on Sunday). I could make some very misleadingly salacious comments about someone else's personal effects getting left in my bed Saturday evening, but the lady in question was only borrowing it for a bit of an emergency lie-down after court on Saturday. Having abruptly realized that next weekend is Crown Tournament, I've concluded that I'll be day-tripping. I'm feeling rather washed out still. Tomorrow I hope to put together a book review for Ellen Kushner's latest. And I want brownie points for not posting any pointless rebuttals over on rec.arts.sf.composition to the assholes who are totally misrepresenting my postings on a certain thread. I've halfway started and then deleted about a dozen posts so far. (This is not made easy by my having switched to MacSoup as a newsreader -- it considers "close window" to mean "que to send". Once you've started a reply, you have to actually open up the outbox, select the message, then delete it in order to avoid sending it. Otherwise, I've gotten rather fond of it as program.)

I should do more of that. I have started and deleted a couple, but I've posted more than I should. Ah, well... I congratulate your will power!

I should have stopped posting even sooner than I did in the cross-dressing thread. I'd forgotten that actually having facts to respond to JAD doesn't make a bit of difference -- his mind was made up before one even began. But I'm pissed as hell at DF proclaiming that JAD's description of my position was accurate -- even though I know that DF would weasel out of it by being bewildered that anyone would think he was talking about anything other than those four or five specific words in question. But life on that group became more pleasant for me when I decided to stop dropping the coins of my attention in DF's tin cup.

Eek! MacSoup sounds positively dangerous! I'll stick with MT-Newswatcher.

Mac Soup has that little letter icon in the window - if you click on it, it'll turn into a crossed-out letter icon (showing up as unbolded text in your outbox) - and that way, it won't send.

Not the best-documented feature, but it's there. Don't panic.

Ah, thank you. I'll look at that. (Mostly the program is fairly intuitive, so I've only gone hunting documentation on a couple of items so far.)

It took me a while to figure it out.

What you need to watch out for is that if it crashes, it'll want to send whatever replies you had open, but unless you've saved, all you'll get is the quoted text and that's it. YOu might have seen that from me a time or two...
